Turn the kitchen chairs upside down. An easy way to do this is to put the chair seat resting on the surface of your table, so that the legs are up in the air, and the chair back extends down from the table top.
Locate the screws that are holding the chair seat in place.
Use your screwdriver to remove all of the screws. Some chairs (like the one in the sample photo) have the screws in a deep channel, so you might need a long screwdriver in order to remove your screws.
Lift the chair off of the now-loosened chair seat carefully. You should now have the chair seat laying on the table top. Set the chair frame on the floor, giving you enough space to work at the table.
Remove the old kitchen chair seat cover. To do this, pull the fabric covering off of the batting and padding layers. On some chairs, this requires very little effort; on others, you might need to use a butter knife or thin flat screwdriver to dislodge a few staples. Remember to leave the batting and padding intact and attached to the chair's frame.
Spread out your new fabric that you'll be using to cover the kitchen chair seats. For best results, iron out any creases or wrinkles.
Use the old kitchen chair seat covers as a template to cut the new seat covers from the new fabric.
Align the new fabric kitchen seat covers over the batting and padding on the chair seat bases.
Apply one staple at each corner, and one at each straight edge, to hold the new fabric taut and in place.
Place the newly-recovered kitchen chair seats back on the chair frames. Carefully invert the chair again, resting them on the table top.
Screw the kitchen chair seats back onto the chair frames.
