Instructions

  1. How to Reupholster Kitchen Chair Seats

    • 1

Turn each kitchen chair upside down. Unscrew the screws holding the kitchen chair seat in place. Remove the seats from the chairs and set the chairs aside.

    • 2

Use pliers or a staple remover to pull the staples holding the original upholstery in place. Remove all of the staples. Lift away the fabric.

    • 3

Cut thin foam or batting approximately 1/2 inch to 1 inch larger on all sides than the seat of the chair. Cut muslin and upholstery fabric 6 inches larger on each side than the seat of your chair to allow ample excess for stapling.

    • 4

Lay your kitchen chair upholstery fabric right side down on your work surface. Stack your muslin and foam or batting on top of the outer fabric. Place the kitchen chair seat on this stack.

    • 5

Pull the fabric taut against one side. Staple the center of this side into place. Repeat for the opposite side, then do the same for the remaining sides. Form neat folds at the corners and staple into place. Trim away the excess. Repeat for all of your kitchen chair seats.

    • 6

Screw the seats back into place on your kitchen chairs.
