How to Care for a Marble Top Table

Marble is the epitome of elegance in the home. New trends of wooden tables with marble tops have emerged recently in interior decorating. To make sure the marble will last a very long time, proper care and maintenance needs to be exercised. Marble looks beautiful and is very sturdy, but if not cared for, the marble can stain from common household items like salad dressings, vinegar, juices, and alcohol, among others.

  • Small bucket
  • Hot water
  • Dish rag
  • Mild alkaline cleaner
  • Soft cloth

      Fill a small bucket with hot water.

      Soak a clean, dry dish rag in the hot water. Wipe down the marble surface with the rag.

      Apply the alkaline cleaner to the marble. Wash the cleaner in small circles that overlap. Make sure to clean the entire table thoroughly.

      Rinse the dish rag in the water completely so no soap, suds or cleaner is left on the rag.

      Dump the water in the bucket out if the water is too dirty.

      Dry the marble tabletop with a soft cloth. Ensure the table is dried completely before putting a tablecloth or place mats on it.
