How to Polish Veneer Countertops

Veneer is a thin, wood material layered and glued on a surface. Veneer countertops dull and fade easily, which may be prevented by regular polishing and maintenance. Use an oil-based polish on your countertops to protect and restore their shine.

Things You'll Need

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 drops lemon oil
  • Bowl
  • 2 lint-free cloths

Instructions

    • 1

Mix the olive and lemon oils together in a bowl or container. The olive oil will protect the veneer and make it shine, while the lemon oil provides a pleasant scent.

    • 2

Apply the homemade polish to a soft, lint-free cloth.

    • 3

Rub a thin layer of polish over the veneer. Allow to sit for one or two minutes to absorb.

    • 4

Remove any excess polish using a clean, dry cloth. Wipe all over to ensure a smooth, streak-free shine.
