Put the two 48-inch pieces (sides) on a worktable. Measure from one end (becomes the bottom) and make marks at 15 3/4, 16 1/2, 31 1/2 and 32 1/4 inches. Place the framing square on the marks and draw lines across the material.
Drill three pilot holes between the lines with a 1/16-inch drill bit. Drill one about 1 inch from the edges and one in the center. Repeat this 3/8-inch from the bottom edge of the sides and then turn them over. Drill countersink holes 3/8 inch deep.
Apply glue to the 11 1/2-inch edges of the 18 1/2-inch lumber (shelves). Secure one shelf at the bottom between the sides with the drywall screws. Secure the other shelves between the lines in the same manner. Clean up the excess glue immediately with a damp cloth.
Set the 20-inch piece of lumber (top) on the worktable. Drill three pilot holes as before 3/8 inch from the 11 1/2-inch edges. Drill countersink holes as before. Apply glue to the top edges of the sides and secure the top to the sides with the drywall screws. Clean up the excess glue.
Position the pie cabinet on the table so the openings are facing up. Run a bead of glue on all exposed edges. Put the pegboard on the glue and secure it with the 1-inch tacks. Turn the pie cabinet over and clean up the excess glue.
Place the 20-by-48-inch plywood (door) on the worktable. Cut two strips of the edge band 50 inches long with a utility knife. Hold one piece against the 48-inch edge of the door and heat it with the iron. Once you apply the heat to the whole strip, rub the edge band with a small block of wood to force the adhesive into the pores of the plywood.
Fold the ends of the edge band over the corners of the doors to break it off. Sand the long edges with the sanding block and 100-grit sandpaper. Repeat this process for each of the remaining edges of the door.
Install the full overlay hinges on the back of the door 3 inches from the top and bottom of the door. Secure the hinges to the pie cabinet with the screws provided. Be certain to keep the door even with the top and bottom of the pie cabinet. Turn the cabinet upside down and install the casters in the corners of the bottom shelf with the 5/8-inch wood screws.
