Assembly Instructions for Putting Together Microwave Carts

Lay the top piece on the floor, finished side down. You will be building the unit upside down, with the bottom, caster-end, facing up.

Insert screws into the holes on the side panels, at the top edges, and screw these pieces to the back and top pieces. Tap 1-inch long pins into the bottoms of the side panels. These rounded pins will hold the bottom shelf in place during final assembly.

Assemble the drawer by screwing the backs of the drawer to the sides, using a Phillips head screwdriver and aligning the pre-drilled holes. Make certain that the channel for the bottom is on the bottom side of each piece. Insert the bottom piece into the channels, with the best side facing up. On the front piece of the drawer, attach the handle in the center, on the outside of the front piece. Insert cam pieces -- screws on a dowel -- into the two remaining holes on the inside of the front piece of the drawer. Screw the head of the cams into the side pieces of the drawer, using a regular screw driver. Insert the drawer dowel through the hole in the back piece, on the underside of the drawer.

Invert the drawer and place into the cabinet cavity. Insert the dowel into the hole in the back panel.

Attach the long, narrow front brace to the front of the cabinet, on top of the drawer. Use shims to create a space between this piece and the drawer bottom so it can open and close easily. The front brace will have a magnet block, which will be used to hold the doors shut. Align the front brace with the dowel and screw into place to each side panel.

Insert pins into each end of the doors, allowing the pins to stick out 1/2-inch. Attach the door spacer to the left-side door, at pre-drilled holes. Attach the magnet plate to the top of the right door. Attach the door handles. Insert the pins at the tops of the doors into the holes in the front brace.

Put a washer on each bottom pin. Align bottom pins to the bottom brace piece and screw the bottom brace into the side panels. Secure the magnet to the magnet plate on the right door and screw the magnet into place on the front brace.

Insert the caster sockets into the bottom of the side panels, hammering in place until the teeth grip the wood. Insert the casters and push down until they click into place. Put the two locking casters on the back side of the unit.

Turn the unit right side up. Place the bottom shelf on the pins at the bottom inside of the unit and set into place. Insert pins for the middle shelf and drop that shelf into place, with the edge banding facing out. Hammer wooden disks into the sides to cover the screws.
