How to Attach Contact Paper in a Cabinet

Improve the look and feel of the insides of your cabinets with contact paper. Repainting cabinet interiors is messy and time consuming. You can attach contact paper in a cabinet quickly and with little effort, and you can easily change it later. Contact paper usually has adhesive on one side and a color or design on the other. Contact paper can quickly (and inexpensively) get your kitchen or bathroom cabinets looking better.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the doors off of your kitchen cabinets. Use your screwdriver to remove the hinges.

    • 2

Clean the shelves with a damp rag to remove dirt and any other particles that may leave bumps under the contact paper. Let the shelves dry completely before attaching contact paper.

    • 3

Measure the dimensions of the shelves in your cabinets with your tape measure.

    • 4

Draw the area you'll need to cut out of the contact paper for each shelf using your pencil and tape measure.

    • 5

Cut along the pencil lines you drew with your scissors.

    • 6

Remove the adhesive from the bottom of the contact paper and very carefully align the contact paper sheet with your kitchen cabinet shelf. Place the contact paper down onto the shelf and use your hands to smooth out any bumps or air pockets.

    • 7

Repeat this process for each shelf.
