How to Remove a Permanent Bar Stool With a Wrench

Permanent bar stools more commonly referred to as "soda fountain" stools are a furniture fixture most commonly found in restaurants and diners. These types of stools can also be installed in a residential home. They are secured to the floor with a few mounting bolts cover by a floor plate. If you have permanent bar stools or soda fountain stools in your kitchen or basement and want to remove them you can do so with a wrench.

Instructions

    • 1

Ask someone to help you remove the soda fountain stools. These fixtures are usually heavy and you will need someone to balance the stool as you dismount it from the floor.

    • 2

Loosen the retaining ring just above the floor plate with channel locks, then slide the floor plate up the stool stand.

    • 3

Ask your assistant to stack books or stand an empty box under the floor plate to hold it in place while you remove the stool.

    • 4

Tell your assistant to hold the soda fountain stool as you loosen the mounting bolts that were concealed by the floor place using a wrench. If possible, retrieve the counter stool wrench that came with the soda fountain stools.

    • 5

Along with your assistant, pull the permanent bar stool away from the floor once the mounting bolts have been removed. Put the stool in storage or dispose of it.
