Line the shelves with wrapping paper. Measure the length and width of the shelves, cut the wrapping paper to fit those measurements, then attach the paper to the shelves using paper adhesives. Apply the adhesives using crafting brushes. Let the paper dry completely before re-stocking the cabinet shelves.
Paint the interior shelves in a shade that's different from the cabinet’s color. For a dramatic design, choose a contrasting color. If your cabinet doors and frames are white, paint the shelves and the interior a bold navy blue or army green. If the cabinet doors and frames are dark brown, choose a light color such as white, light yellow or baby blue.
Add your personal design to your cabinet shelves using acrylic paints. For instance, paint a large rose on one shelf and a lily on the shelf below it if you want to create a flower theme. Painted designs allow you to choose a theme and use your creative craft skills to develop your own design. For a bold design, paint the entire shelf’s surface white and add your chosen design in black acrylic paint.
Prepare the cabinet shelves before you start adding any designs or decorations, whether you're lining the shelves with wrapping paper or painting designs on the shelves yourself. Remove all of the items from the cabinet shelves. Wipe the shelves down with a damp cloth and soapy water, so there are no dust particles on the shelf. Let the shelf dry completely before adding adhesives for the wrapping paper or paint for your personal designs.
