How to Make Skateboard Shelving

All kids need a place to stash their stuff. Shelving on the wall provides a storage solution to keep things off the floor. Add some practical fun to your child's room by installing skateboard shelving. Boys and girls will love these shelves; just coordinate the colors to your child's room.

Things You'll Need

  • Three skateboards
  • Two (25-inch) hanging standards
  • Six sturdy 6 1/2-inch shelf brackets
  • Six wall anchors
  • Six screws
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Pen

Instructions

      Measure the width between the skateboard wheels. Mark the wheel width on the wall. Install the wall anchors and then the hanging standards for the shelves.

      Place the brackets in the hanging standards. Leave enough space between the brackets for three shelves.

      Place the skateboards on the brackets. Use a pen to mark the spot on the skateboard for the pilot holes.

      Remove the skateboards from the brackets. Drill pilot holes in the skateboards, using caution not to drill completely through the boards.

      Place the skateboards back on the brackets. Secure the skateboards by inserting screws through the brackets into the pilot holes.

      Place small bins on the skateboards for your child to organize his things.
