How to Have a Girly Room

For many families, setting aside a separate playroom for the adults and children is becoming very popular. Adults can have their big screens and recliners, stereo surround sound and room to entertain. The kids like to play games and have friends over. Here are a few tips to turn your daughter's playroom into a girly room where she can bring her friends to play.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill the room with soft, plush furniture. The new microfiber fabrics are great for playrooms since they are easy to clean and care for and come in a wide variety of colors that would go great in girly rooms, such as purple, mint green or powder blue. If the room is big enough, get a loveseat and matching chairs or a sectional that can be made into a pit.

Give the girls a place to eat and drink. Many girls are born hostesses and need a place to set the table and serve their goodies to their friends. In one corner, place a table with four chairs. A round pub-size table would be really cool for her.

    • 3

Make room for games and controllers. Girls like video games as much as boys do, but they will typically like to include other activities in their playtime as well, so don't make the video screen and controllers a central part of the room like you might in a boy's room.

Put a small fridge in the room where she can store drinks. Shelves for dishes and knick-knacks look nice above the fridge. If she is old enough, then you may include a microwave in the room as well to complete the little kitchen corner.

Paint the walls her favorite color and add plenty of shelving strategically around the room so that she can display her treasured collections and books.

Throw a shag rug on the floor to compliment the other colors in the room as they are all the rage right now.
