Organize all items for the changing table before the baby arrives. Wash, dry, and neatly fold all of the new baby's clothing. Organize the clothing by outfits, and put each complete outfit away together on shelves or in drawers. Place all of the undershirts and socks away together. Place other separates (sweaters and hats) together in a drawer as well.
Use a basket for the washcloths and towels, and fold these items together. Place the diapers in the diaper stacker, and hang nearby the changing table. On a shelf of the changing table, place the wipes, the baby lotions, the cotton swabs, and all of the other assorted hygiene items neatly together for easy access.
Keep track of what you use and what runs low so that items can be replenished as needed. If toddlers are present in the home, keep toiletry items out of sight and reach.
Keep a small basket full of colorful, special toys to use for entertaining baby during diaper changes or other baby care. The baby will learn to anticipate special play, and this can be an enjoyable bonding time for baby and parent.
