Where to Shop for Affordable Round Cribs

A round crib is a perfect accent for any nursery and a comfortable resting place for your new bundle of joy. It adds a touch of old-fashioned, vintage flavor to your child's room, but unfortunately can cost quite a bit of money. Luckily, you can find several alternate routes to purchasing a round crib so that you can enjoy the beautiful design and structure as well as save a good chunk of change.
  1. Shop Sales

    • Use websites like Nextag.com to keep your eye on sale items and which supplier sells the least expensive round cribs. Peruse your newspaper to see if any furniture or baby supply stores are selling cribs at a discount. You can also sign up for newsletters from various companies like Target or JC Penney to be notified by email when they are having a sale.

    Thrift Stores

    • Thrift stores and charity shops are an excellent way to find round cribs at a discount. However, it is a good idea to replace the mattress in the crib with a new one once you have procured your piece. Baby mattresses can be purchased at any baby store or any large multiproduct retailer (such as Target and Wal-Mart). You should also give your crib a thorough cleaning with a household cleaning product, usually one that contains bleach, so you can be sure to kill all the bacteria. Wait a few days after cleaning to put your baby in the crib to make sure the bleach-based product has dried.

    eBay and Craigslist

    • Ebay and Craigslist.org are great websites for new and used items. On Craigslist, you will likely be looking for cribs in your area so you can physically pick them up, while eBay may ship them to you. Be careful who you are dealing with, and remember to check your seller's transaction history. Take a friend or family member with you if you are picking up an item in person.

    Garage Sales

    • Many people who no longer have a use for a round crib will sell it in their garage sales. Look in your newspaper or on Craigslist for your locally listed garage sales. If they list a phone number, you might want to call ahead to see if they have what you're looking for, although many times people will list that they are selling baby items. As with thrift store finds, you'll want to vigorously clean it after purchase as well as replace the mattress with a new one.
