Headboard Ideas for Girls

Headboards are what give a bed its character. Young girls want headboards that are girly, glamorous and fun. It is also important to keep a budget in mind when selecting a headboard for your daughter's room. As children grow up, their likes and dislikes change at an alarming rate. If you choose an inexpensive headboard for her room, you can change the headboard without breaking your budget.
  1. Wall Decals

    • Wall decals are a relatively new interior design element with several uses. One budget conscious use for wall decals is using them for headboard substitutes. Choose a silhouette of a tree in any color your daughter desires for an interesting headboard. When your daughter grows tired of her headboard, simply remove the wall decal and change it out for another one.

    Metal Trellis

    • Find a metal trellis at a garden center and spray paint it gold, silver, pink or purple to create a magical headboard for your little princess. Weave ribbons through the trellis for a more girly touch. Hot glue the ends of the ribbons to the back of the headboard to ensure that they don't come loose or fall off. Make sure to securely fasten the trellis to the wall using metal brackets painted the same color as the trellis.

If your little princess has a larger bed, use two trellises to create a headboard. Allow your daughter to help you create the headboard, and she is sure to be proud of it for years to come. After she grows tired of her metal trellis headboard you can take it off the wall, spray paint it black and use it in your garden.

    Throw Pillow Headboard

    • Create a headboard for your little girl's room using throw pillows and peel and stick Velcro strips. Purchase enough throw pillows to span the length of your daughter's bed. Put a Velcro strip down each side of each pillow. Apply the other side of the Velcro to the wall where you to attach want the pillow Make sure that the pillows are all approximately the same size and that the Velcro strips are all the same distance apart. The wonderful thing about this headboard option is that your daughter can rearrange the pillows as she sees fit. In addition, once she grows tired of the headboard or you decide to redecorate her room, the headboard will be easy to remove from the wall and you can reuse the pillows elsewhere.

If you have a daughter who loves arts and crafts projects, help her make her own pillows instead of purchasing them
