Basic Parts of a Baby Crib

Function

• The crib rods slide through the teething rails, through the top of the crib sides, through hardware into rod springs, and down through the bottom of the crib sides. Rod support angles guide the rods and act as fasteners.

Types

• There are three basic crib types: one moving side, two moving sides and a folding side.

Features

• Cribs feature mattress springs with spring handles that fit into the spring frame, sliding into hardware on the crib sides. The mattress is placed over this section.

Considerations

• Some baby cribs have a hand-release system on the moving sides. Most cribs have metal foot releases that consist of the release bars and at least two metal gate shoes.
