Apply paint stripper to the bassinet with a medium-size brush. Allow stripper to set for time designated on stripper instructions or until you see old paint begin to bubble up. Scrape old paint off with putty knife and steel wool. You may need to apply a second coat of stripper in order to get all of the old paint off. After the paint has been removed, wipe the piece with a rag, and then sand with fine-grade sandpaper until smooth.
If you are using a dark color of paint, you will need a coat of primer. Use a primer that is in the color range for your paint. For example, if you're using red paint, your primer will be pinkish in color. Apply a coat of primer, and allow it to dry. Apply base paint with medium-size brush, and let it dry. Apply a second coat of base paint, and allow it to thoroughly dry..

Using a stencil brush fill in the stencils with your acrylic paint. Use a thin coat at first, and begin your painting on the outside of the stencil, working your way in. Allow the paint to dry. Apply a second coat using the same technique. Allow the paint to dry. Carefully remove the stencils.
