How to Convert an Evenflo Crib Into a Toddler Bed

Many infant cribs today come with an optional conversion kit for changing the crib into a toddler bed. The Jenny Lind Evenflo Crib comes with this option. The conversion kit may be purchased alongside the crib, or separately later. If you chose to purchase the conversion kit later, you may have a hard time finding the exact one you need. Converting the crib to a toddler bed is a simple way to prolong the life of your baby furniture until your child is ready for a larger bed.

Find the side railing that can be removed. Evenflo cribs allow one side to unscrew while the other three sides hold up the crib. This is also the side that has an adjustable height. Using the screwdriver, remove the four screws holding this railing onto the crib. Have another person hold the railing while you unscrew it so the railing does not fall and get scratched or damaged.

Put the screws that you removed from the crib into a plastic bag to be stored with the railing. You may never put the railing back on to use as a crib again, but if you ever sell or donate the crib the new owners will need these screws. Cover the removed railing with a furniture pad, mover's plastic or a blanket. Covering it will protect the wood from chipping or being damaged while it is in storage.

Assemble the toddler bed railing. The railing is included in the conversion kit, along with the necessary screws. The tall side of the railing should be at the head of the bed. This railing is intended to keep the toddler from rolling out of bed. Using the provided screws in the conversion kit, screw the toddler bed railing into place where the former crib railing had been. The same screws holes will be used.
