How to Make a Cushioned Kid Chair

When it comes to couches and chairs in our home, children may find them quite difficult to climb on and enjoy. Children love having their own smaller-sized chairs to sit on. Having a smaller chair is far more comfortable for children than having to be propped onto an adult-sized chair. Creating a cushioned kid chair is a rather crafty project that will give your child a comfortable seating option for any occasion.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut foam to size. Cut two small sections for the base that measure 16-inches deep and 28-inches wide. Cut one section of foam that measures 30-inches tall and 28-inches wide for the back of the chair. Cut two more pieces for the arms that measure 16-inches long and six-inches wide.

    • 2

Glue the base together. Apply a thick layer of hot glue to the top side of one base cushion. Line up both base sections and firmly press them down, one on top of the other.

    • 3

Attach the arms to the chair base. The chair arms should be placed along the outer edges of the base cushion. These will frame a seating area that measures 16-inches by 16-inches. Glue these arms into place with a thick layer of hot glue.

Attach the back of the chair to the base. Apply a thick layer of hot glue along the back of the base structure and the back of the arms. Line of the base of the back with the floor line and firmly press it in place.

Cover the chair with fabric by using hot glue to attack it to the foam. Begin with the bottom of the chair, and wrap the fabric from the front bottom side, over the seat base, and cover the entire backing of the chair. Continue wrapping the chair in fabric by working from the bottom side area of the chair, and wrap the fabric up over the sides, arms, base, and back over the opposite arm and side until the fabric reaches the bottom of the chair.
