How to Assemble a Stork Craft Chelsea Crib

According to the company website, Stork Craft has been making baby cribs for more than 60 years. All Stork Craft cribs are purchased unassembled and require only basic household tools for assembly. While the process can be accomplished by one person, having two people to assemble the crib makes for an easier assembly process.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the crib pieces and hardware on the floor and compare to the diagram on the instruction sheet to ensure no pieces are missing. Make sure there is enough space to assemble the crib; ideally assemble it in the room in which it’s intended to be used.

    • 2

Lay the mattress support bars on a flat surface and place the mattress support piece on the bars. Attach the base brackets to the supports and base, with the protruding ends facing outward and the holes aligned in all three pieces. Insert a 1/4-by-1 3/4 inch bolt from the top of the mattress base through each bracket, mattress base and mattress support. On the bottom of the bolt, attach a lock washer and acorn nut and tighten using a flat-head screwdriver and adjustable wrench.

    • 3

Stand the stationary side rail up and insert a wooden dowel into the hole at either end of the top of the side rail. Place the side rail between the headboard and footboard sections without the pre-assembled T-rails attached and insert a barrel nut into the hole on the sides of the stationary side rail. From the outside of the headboard and footboard, insert a 1/4-by-3-inch bolt into the barrel nut. Use a screwdriver to tighten.

Position the assembled mattress base from Step 2 between the headboard and footboard with the base bracket protrusions facing up. Attach a lock washer on each of the 1/4-by-5/8-inch bolts. Insert the bolts through the holes in the four base brackets into the pre-inserted nuts in the headboard and footboard. Tighten with the screwdriver.

Insert the rail claws pre-attached to the drop-side rail into both top and bottom sets of pre-attached T-rails on the headboard and footboard. Make sure the plastic teething plate is facing toward the top on the drop-side rail. Lock the rail in place. Insert the casters into the bottom feet of the crib.
