How to Make a Baby Cradle or Bassinet

Most store bought bassinets are made to accommodate your baby for three or four months after birth, making it a very expensive piece of furniture. However, bassinets are highly functional and useful. They are easy to move to any room in your home, allowing you to monitor your newborn baby constantly. You can make your own mobile bassinett to keep next to you using a strong, large basket and a few other materials.

Things You'll Need

• Strong, large basket, 22 inches long or greater
• 2-inch thick foam
• Bassinet fitted sheet
• Baby bed sheet
• Scissors

     Cut a piece of foam so that it is slightly larger than the bottom of the basket. Put the foam on the bottom of the basket so there are no gaps between the foam and the basket.

     Remove the foam from the basket. Place the bassinet fitted sheet over the foam.

     Place the baby sheet on the bottom of the basket. Press the sheet in the corners and allow the rest of the fabric to drape up and over the top edges of the basket.

     Insert the foam mattress inside the basket. Add any other soft blanket or sheets.
