Choosing a crib that can convert to a toddler bed or a full size bed can offer years of use for your child. Following the manufacturer user guidelines for your specific crib is recommended, as all convertible cribs may differ in assemblage, parts, maintenance and operation. Most convertible cribs require the purchase of additional pieces such as bed rails or side panels. The manufacturer manual will explain the procedure for purchasing and installing these parts. 1. Converting Crib to Toddler Bed

    • 1

Make sure you have purchased any additional materials you need for the crib conversions, such as an additional piece of panel. Check the crib instructions. Some crib instructions can be found on the bottom of the mattress panel of the crib. If you are unsure or have no instructions, inquire with the crib manufacturer on your specific crib model.

    • 2

Make sure the mattress is in the lowest position possible. Take off the front panel of the crib by unscrewing the bolts. The type of bolts that your crib has depends on the manufacturer crib type. Some cribs may come with a specific screwdriver for the bolts.

    • 3

Remover the center panel from the side posts by unscrewing the connective bolts on each side post. Attach the toddler rail to the center panel with the bolts you just removed. Attach the toddler rail and posts to the side panels of the crib.

Connect the bed to the front and back panels using bolts. If you have bed slats, lay them on the ledgers of the bed rails and space them evenly.

Tighten the all bolts into the bed ledgers. Make sure all bolts are tightened with a wrench.
