Storkcraft Ariel Convertible Crib Assembly Instruction

The Storkcraft Ariel Stages convertible crib can be used for a baby's entire childhood. The mattress can be set at its highest level for a newborn and gradually lowered as the child grows. When the child has outgrown the crib, it can be converted into a full-size bed with the purchase of a mattress frame. Assembly and conversion of the Storkcraft Ariel Stages convertible crib are simple processes that easily can be performed at home with a few basic tools and the help of a willing assistant.

Instructions

Position the mattress base with the instructions facing up. Place it on top of the two long mattress base supports, aligning the four corner holes. Position the hooked metal mattress base brackets on each corner so the curved ends face out and the bracket holds the base support and the base. Insert four bolts, 1/4-inch wide by 1 3/4-inch long, into the four corner holes. Secure each bolt with a washer and an acorn nut under the bracket. Hold the acorn nut with a wrench while tightening the bolt from the top with a flat-head screwdriver. Avoid overtightening.

Locate the four short, wooden dowels in your Storkcraft Ariel Stages crib assembly kit. Slide them halfway into the upper holes on the outer ends of the crib side rails.

    • 3

Find the matching holes on the footboard. Align one of the side rail dowels with one of the corresponding footboard holes. Press the side rail and footboard together until the dowel is entirely inserted. Place the barrel nut into the hole under the side rail, sliding it up into position. Insert a bolt, 1/4-inch wide and 3 1/4-inches long, sideways into the barrel nut from the outside of the footboard, and secure it with the alien key included in the assembly kit. Attach the headboard in the same manner, but do not attach the second side rail.

Fit the assembled mattress base, with the label facing up, into the three-sided crib. Ask an assistant to hold the base in place. Align the holes in the mattress bracket with the holes on the headboard and footboard at the height you need to prevent a child from climbing out of the crib. Slide a lock washer onto each of four bolts, 1/4-inch wide by 5/8-inch long. Fit the bolts through the brackets and into the pre-inserted nuts inside the holes in the headboard and footboard. Tighten with a flat-head screwdriver.

    • 5

Attach the second side rail in the same manner as you attached the first side rail.

    • 6

Insert the four long, wooden dowels into the four holes on the corners posts. Screw a cam-bolt into each of the three pre-drilled holes in the headboard and footboard caps. Position the cylindrical cams in each of the three holes on the back of the side rails. Align the cam bolts and wooden dowels with their corresponding holes and press to insert. Tighten the cams by screwing them clockwise with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

    • 7

Check all bolts, but do not overtighten.

    • 8

Convert the Storkcraft Ariel crib to a full-size bed by removing the mattress base and side rails. Align a full-size bed frame to the headboard and footboard. Screw four bolts, 1/4-inch wide by 5/8-inch long, into the nuts encased in the pre-drilled holes at the base of the posts. Tighten.
