Assembly Instructions for an El Greco Crib with Hidden Hardware

El Greco is a family-owned business that has been manufacturing quality wood furniture for more than 35 years. El Greco cribs are crafted in the company's own factories. Every step, from the initial cutting of the lumber to the finished product, is performed in-house. The hardware is "hidden" inside the moving side rail. This gives the crib a sleeker, cleaner look. Follow all of the manufacturer's instructions carefully when you assemble an El Greco crib with hidden hardware. Ensuring that your baby receives a safe and secure bed is the top priority.

Place the mattress support spring on the floor with the scissor lifts facing up. To assemble the mattress in the highest position, remove the four nuts and hex bolts that are located at the corners of the spring. Turn the short arm of the scissor lift around, moving away from the middle of the spring in the direction toward the outside of the spring. Re-attach the short arm to the spring using the previously removed nuts and hex bolts. To lower the mattress, remove the nuts on the long arm of the scissor lift and relocate them closer to the middle of the spring.

    • 3

Place one of the two stabilizer bars on the inside of one side of the spring assembly and turn it to position the metal inserts facing the floor. Repeat this step with the second stabilizer bar on the opposite side of the spring. Attach the stabilizer bar to the scissor lift by inserting the two hex bolts through the holes and securing them with the hex nuts. Use a hex wrench to tighten the hex nuts. Insert a wood dowel into the holes on the ends of the stabilizer bars. Turn the assembly over to rest on the stabilizer bars.

    • 4

Slide the long bolts through the holes of the stationary side on one end of the panel. Secure the panel by tightening the bolts slightly using an Allen wrench. Do not tighten the bolts down completely. Repeat the procedure on the opposite end of the panel.

    • 5

Transfer the spring and stabilizer assembly to the inside of the end and side assembly. Lift up the spring assembly and position it, so the wooden dowel pins in the ends of the stabilizer bars align to the dowel holes which are drilled into each end panel. Slide the four short bolts through the holes. Tighten the bolts using an Allen wrench. Do not tighten the bolts down completely.

    • 6

Place the plastic roller wheels and flat-head screws in the inserts on the inside of the top of each end panel. Use a flat-head screwdriver to tighten the screw down securely. Unscrew the screw slightly, just enough so that the plastic roller wheel spins freely. Insert a metal guide pin through the holes at the bottom each end panel. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to tighten the pins down securely.

    • 7

Hold the drop side with the sticker facing toward the bottom of the inside of the crib. Position it to align the opening on the plastic track in the end slat with the plastic roller wheels. Adjust the opening in the track over the plastic roller wheels on each side. Lower the drop side until the roller wheels fit into the keyhole channel. Pull out the end panel on one side. Push the pin into the bottom track on the end slate to fit the drop side over the metal guide pins. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side. Secure all of the bolts on the crib tightly to complete the assembly.

    • 8

Test drop the side by pulling the top rail up as you gently press into the bottom rail with your leg. Allow the side to drop down. Lift the side back into place.

    • 9

Lift up one end of the crib. Push the casters up into the metal inserts on the bottom of one side of the end panel. Place the caster containing the brake toward the drop side. Repeat on the opposite side of the end panel.
