Child Craft Baby Bed Instructions

For ease of transportation, Child Craft cribs are supplied in the disassembled state. You can assemble these products in three forms: baby crib, toddler bed, or full sized youth bed. However, when choosing the full size bed configuration, a separate larger bed spring is required. The parts come with detailed assembly instructions together with the necessary Allen wrenches and hardware required to put the bed together.

Instructions

    • 1

Identify the separate wooden components and lay them out in order of assembly. Stick a short strip of masking tape on the front face of each component. Write the part identification letter on the masking tape with a marker pen.

    • 2

Place each screw or bolt on top of the included full-sized parts diagram to identify them by letter reference and size.

    • 3

Insert the tubular connector nuts "I" into the relevant holes on the top and bottom of the long slatted side "R" of the crib. Thread Allen head bolts marked "F" through the legs marked "N" for the left side and "O" for the right side; ensure that the bottom taper and long slot faces inward. Position the legs on the ends of the long slatted "R" side, and thread the connecting bolts into the tubular nuts with the Allen wrench provided. Don't tighten at this stage.

    • 4

Place the long foot cap marked "V" on top of the slatted stationary side "R." Insert four Allen head bolts "G" up through the holes in the top rail of the slatted side "R." Thread the bolts into the factory fitted threaded insert and tighten securely with the Allen wrench. Tighten the Allen head bolts "F" connecting the leg posts to the slatted side.

    • 5

Insert the Allen head bolts "F" through the holes in the foot posts "P" and "Q." Insert the tubular connector nuts "I" up through their respective holes in the second long slatted side "S." Position the posts "P" and "Q" against the end of the second slatted side "S," with the tapered ends pointing downward. Thread the Allen head bolts into the tubular nuts. Don't tighten yet.

    • 6

Push four Allen head bolts "F" up through their respective holes in the top rail of the second slatted side "S." Position the foot cap "V" on top of the slatted side. Thread the Allen head bolts "F" into the factory-fitted threaded inserts and tighten securely with the Allen wrench. Tighten the Allen head bolts "P" connecting the leg posts to the slatted side.

    • 7

Identify the headboard and footboard slatted end pieces marked "M"; these are identical, but the part with product stickers attached is used as the footboard. Position the foot caps "L" on top of each slatted end piece with the radius end facing the front of the crib. Insert the four Allen head bolts "G" up through the top rail. Thread the bolts into the factory-fitted threaded inserts and tighten securely with the Allen wrench.

    • 8

Insert Allen head bolts "D" into the rear foot posts of the two slatted end pieces "M." Thread the bolts into the matching factory fitted threaded inserts on the end foot posts "N" and "O," fitted to the long slatted side "R." Repeat by bolting the opposite sides of the slatted end pieces "M" to their respective matching factory-fitted threaded inserts on the legs "P" and "Q" attached to the slatted side piece "S." Tighten all Allen head bolts securely with the Allen wrench to complete the free-standing frame of the crib.

    • 9

Determine the height at which you wish to install the spring base to the inside of the crib. Set the upward pointing swiveling swing arms on the ends of the spring base at a slight outward angle.

    • 10

Lift the spring base into the crib with the help of a friend. Adjust the angle of the swing arms if necessary to align the attaching holes in the swing arms up with the bolt holes on the end slats of crib ends "M," at your pre-selected height. Insert the short Allen head bolts "C" through the holes in the swing arms and thread them into the factory fitted threaded inserts on the end slats of the crib ends "M." Tighten securely with the Allen wrench. Fill the empty holes in the crib ends "M" with the bronze inserts "H" provided in the kit.

    • 11

Check-tighten all Allen head screws on the crib with the Allen wrench. Place your selected mattress inside the crib.

    • 12

Convert the crib into an open-sided toddler bed by first removing the mattress. Undo the bolts holding the foot cap "V" to the top of the slatted side piece marked "S" and remove the foot cap. Remove the Allen head bolts "F" attaching the front slatted side marked "S" to the foot posts marked "P" and "Q." Store the slatted side "S" in case you need to convert the bed back into a crib at a later stage. Remove the spring base swing arm bolts marked "C" and lift the spring base out of the crib.

    • 13

Stretch the foot posts "P" and "Q" apart just enough to allow the wood dowels in the ends of the crib stretcher post marked "T" to fit into the holes drilled into lower part of the foot posts "P" and "Q." Install the crib stretcher by fitting the dowels into their respective holes and re-inserting the two lower Allen head bolts "F" through the lower holes in end posts "P" and "Q." Tighten securely with the Allen wrench.

    • 14

Re-install the spring base in the lowest possible position. Remove the lowest bronze insert nuts "H" and bolt the swing arms back onto the crib ends marked "M" in the lowest holes. Tighten securely with the Allen wrench.

    • 15

Attach the left foot post cap marked "W" and the right foot post cap marked "X" to the top of the foot posts marked "P" and "Q" by inserting Allen head bolt "E" through their locator holes and into the factory-fitted threaded inserts on the tops of foot posts "P" and "Q." Tighten securely with the Allen wrench.
