Cosco Cribs Assembly Instructions

Cosco manufactures several types of cribs that require home assembly. The general process of assembling the different models is the same, with the exception of the drop-front cribs, which require an extra step for assembly. When assembling any crib, especially if it is bought second hand, check for safety recalls before using it.

Instructions

  1. Standard Cosco Cribs

    • 1

Place all four sides of the crib in their proper positions before assembly. There will be two shorter pieces for the sides and two longer pieces for the front and the back, in addition to the mattress support piece.

    • 2

Attach all four sides together using the hinges or casters included with the crib. Insert the enclosed screws through the holes in the hinges and then into the prefabricated holes on the side pieces. Turn the screws until they are fully inserted into the body of the crib. Repeat this process with all the sides of the crib. Be sure the screws are tightly secured to the hinges and crib parts before proceeding.

    • 3

Turn the crib upside down. Attach the legs to each of the four corners of the crib using the enclosed screws. Be sure the screws have been fully inserted and secured to the crib. Test the strength of the legs by turning the crib right side up and then pushing down on the body of the crib.

    • 4

Attach the mattress support by placing it in the center of the crib and screwing it into place using the enclosed screws. Attach all four sides of the mattress support piece and make sure it's level before placing the mattress inside the crib.

    Drop-Front Cosco Cribs

    • 5

Lay out all pieces of your drop-front Cosco crib as they will be installed. These cribs have two shorter sides, a longer back, a bottom frame, slide rails, a gate and a mattress support piece, in addition to all the hardware required to assemble the crib. Attach the three stationary sides of the crib together using the caster method described above.

    • 6

Connect the sliding mechanisms to the body of the crib. First, install the bottom frame to the front of the crib by connecting it to the two shorter sides using the enclosed casters and screws. Then, attach the gate shoes to the bottom frame by screwing them into the prefabricated holes on each side of the bottom frame. Finally, attach a side rail to the bottom frame and each side of the crib by screwing it into the prefabricated holes provided.

    • 7

Turn the crib upside down and attach the legs to each of the four corners of the crib by screwing them tightly into place. Turn the crib right side up and test the strength of the feet by pressing down on the body of the crib.

    • 8

Attach the mattress support piece to the frame of the crib by screwing it into the prefabricated holes located at each corner of the crib. Be sure the mattress support has been installed securely and is level.

    • 9

Connect the drop-down gate to the sliding mechanisms at the front of the crib. Place the gate into the top portion of each of the side rail grooves and gently push it all the way down the side of the crib until it locks into place. Once it is locked into place, the latch on the left side must be depressed to release the gate.
