How to Get Stickers Off of a Crib

It can be aggravating when you get your new crib home only to realize that the manufacturer has placed stickers on the wooden frame. Sometimes these stickers provide important safety information to the consumer while other stickers are mere advertisements. Removing the stickers can be a hassle as the sticky residue can cause aesthetic problems. With a few simple products, you can remove the stickers and the residue from your crib effectively.

Instructions

Wet a clean washcloth with warm water. Press the warm washcloth to the stickers and hold for 30 to 60 seconds. The moisture from the wash cloth should ruin the adhesive. Try this step several times if it doesn't work the very first time. Watch as the sticker begins to peel itself from the wooden surface. The sticker will likely come off in pieces so pull these off of the surface separately. Scrub the remaining adhesive with the washcloth to remove it entirely.

Plug in your hair dryer. Switch the setting to hot or warm and high. Blow dry the area with the sticker. Hold the blow dryer close to the surface to properly heat up the adhesive. After two to three minutes, peel the sticker away from the crib surface with your fingers. Use a clean cloth and dab a small portion of furniture oil on it. Rub the remaining adhesive away with the oiled cloth.

Purchase an adhesive remover. Merely peel the sticker from your crib to the best of your ability. Apply the adhesive remover to the residue as the directions on the container indicate. Adhesive remover will take away any buildup that is left by the sticker. Be sure to read the label of the product to make sure that is is safe to use on wood surfaces. Purchase adhesive removers in a cleaning products aisle, automotive, or a home remodeling section of your local retail store.
