A child's room can be a lot of fun to decorate. Children love bright colors and cartoon characters, which can be easily integrated into their room design. One piece of furniture that is sometimes left out of a child's room is a couch. Instructions

    • 1

Select a slipcover in a bright color for the kids' sofa. Avoid colors such as white or yellow because they stain easily. Instead, look for bright blues, reds or greens.

    • 2

Follow the directions on the slipcover package to cover the couch or love seat.

    • 3

Move the sofa or love seat into the child's room and place it where you want it to sit permanently. If the couch is heavy, ask someone to help you move it.

    • 4

Place a brightly colored throw over the back of the couch. Choose a color other than the couch color. This will add another splash of color to the couch and give the child a blanket to use when he is reading, watching TV or napping on the couch.

    • 5

Select several large stuffed animals or stuffed cartoon characters to place on the couch. For a child's couch, using oversized stuffed animals instead of pillows can be a creative, fun touch.

    • 6

Choose several brightly colored pillows or pillows with cartoon characters on them if you would like to use pillows rather than stuffed animals for the couch.
