How to Attach the Legs on a Wicker Bassinet

The bassinet is a popular style of bed for infants from birth to four months of age. When choosing a manufactured bassinet, look for one that has a Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) seal on it; this seal verifies that the bassinet has met the safety standards of the JPMA. Whether you buy an unassembled bassinet or build your own, make sure that the legs are reinforced by leg braces, which strengthen the bassinet's structure and prevent it from wobbling.

Instructions

  1. Unassembled Bassinet Kits

    • 1

Identify the legs of the bassinet. The bassinet will have either four separate legs or two sets of two combined legs.

    • 2

Attach the top of the legs to the base of the wicker bassinet as directed in the instruction manual. The legs will attach with a folding brace or a snapping joint.

    • 3

Attach a leg brace between each leg. Screw the brace into the legs with a power drill or insert the wooden notch that's included in the packaging, depending on the style of the bassinet.

Use a power drill to drill a guide hole into the top of each bassinet leg. Put a washer on each wood screw.

    • 5

Place a wooden block on top of the bassinet leg. Position the block underneath each corner of the wicker basket.

    • 6

Drill a wood screw through the basket and wooden block into the leg’s guide hole. Drill until the bassinet and leg are tightly attached. Repeat this process for each leg.

    • 7

Use the power drill to drill guide holes on the top and bottom of the leg brace. Position the leg brace between two legs at the halfway point between the ground and the bottom of the basket.

    • 8

Place a washer on a screw. Drill a screw through the side of the leg until it is tightly attached to the leg brace. Repeat this process for each leg brace.
