Setup Instructions for a Twin Low Loft Castle Bed

Twin low-loft castle beds provide the space-saving convenience of a bunk bed with a lower height which makes it ideal for young children. The castle-shaped tent can be purchased in both boy and girl designs and typically slides over a tent frame that is securely fastened to the bed. Most low-loft castle beds come with the parts and accessories required to set up the bed on your own.

Instructions

  1. Bed Assembly

    • 1

Install two barrel nuts into each end of the bed rails so that the hole in each nut faces the rail end.

    • 2

Fasten the headboard to the right and left rail using the hex-head bolts provided. Insert each bolt into the predrilled holes on the outside of the headboard and into the mounting holes of the rails and tighten with the provided Allen wrench.

    • 3

Fasten the footboard to the opposite end of the rails using the bolts provided and tighten.

    • 4

Install the slats onto the assembled frame and fasten to the rails by inserting the screws provided through the predrilled holes on each of the slats and into the rails. Tighten with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 5

Install the two back guardrails, which run the length of the bed, by inserting the screws provided through the legs at each end and into the holes on each rail and tightening.

    • 6

Assemble the outside guardrail by securing the two shorter rails to the end posts with the screws provided. Install the rail on the outside edge of the bed by fitting the notched end of the posts over the side rail.

    • 7

Fasten the rail to the bed by inserting the screws provided through the inside holes of the rail posts and into the side rail and tighten each screw.

    Castle Tent and Frame

    • 8

Insert a hex bolt into the mounting holes on each end of your four cross members.

    • 9

Attach the unnotched end of one poster leg to each end of two of the four cross members using the screw provided.

    • 10

Attach each of the remaining cross members to the sides of each post to create a square frame with cross members running along the top and the notched end of each leg facing down.

    • 11

Lift the assembled tent frame over the guardrails and fit the notched end of the poster legs over the top of the front and back rails. Secure in place by inserting the bolts provided through the inside of the poster legs and into the rail and tighten.

    • 12

Double-check that all bolts are tightened. Insert the wooden plugs provided to plug the screw holes. Insert the 7/16-inch plugs into the holes on the top inside face at each end of the bed and in any unused holes on the legs. Insert the ¾-inch plugs into the barrel bolt holes on the inside of the rails and the 7/8-inch plugs into the top hole of the bed’s legs.

    • 13

Fit the desired tent over the tent frame and arrange around the bed. Install the bottom curtains to the interior of the frame beneath the bed using the hook-and-loop tape provided. Typically the bottom curtain is installed along the front and one side of the bed, with the other side facing into the wall.
