How to Decorate an Office With Teak Furniture

Decorating with teak is easy because it is such a luxurious, hardy wood. You can decorate an office with teak in several ways, depending on your budget and your primary use for the office. One option if you have a small budget is to invest in good quality faux teak, which is not easy to spot and can be used like real teak.

Instructions

Draw an outline of your office. Mark the windows and doors. Then draw in where you would like to have your teak furniture. Keep it away from direct sunlight if possible, and if you are using it with other types of furniture, try not to place them directly adjacent to each other.

    • 2

Place the teak items around the outer edge of the office. Teak bookshelves, for example, look imposing behind a desk. The same goes for teak glass cabinets. These should be put into place before you start placing things in the middle of the room. A teak wine rack is a beautiful way to keep a celebratory item handy and decorate at the same time. This should probably go in a corner or to the side of your desk away from the window and against the wall.

    • 3

Place your desk and chair toward the center of the room. In general, people like to face the door and a teak desk set is a good way to make sure that the view of your office upon entering is a good one. Place one or two additional teak chairs in front of the desk so people consulting with you have somewhere to sit.

Replace any picture frames with the teak frames. This adds elegance to the room and gives it more coherence when the wood extends to the wall decorations. These frames can easily be faux teak without anyone ever noticing.

    • 5

Hang the curtains. Even if you like bright light, hang sheer curtains. Teak is extremely hardy, but it will lighten in bright, direct sunlight. The curtains will help you filter out this sunlight without compromising the light in the office.

    • 6

Put your lighting in place. Teak can make a room feel dark, so use a lot of lighting. A lamp on your desk, one on top of a bookcase and a floor lamp behind you will brighten up the room without necessitating the use of unpleasant fluorescent overhead lights.

Install your office figurines and other decorations. These will look wonderful on the teak bookcase or in the glass cabinet.
