How to Use Dresser Drawers As a Filing Cabinet

Use a tape measure to measure the insides of the dresser drawers. Measure the width (front to back) and depth (top to bottom) of the dresser drawers. Make a notation of the measurements.

Visit a local office supply store to purchase filing folders that meet the measurement specifications from step one. Do not purchase the hanging folders since the hanging folders will prevent your drawer from closing. Purchase label tabs to go onto your filing folders. The tabs will help you to keep your information organized with ease.

Organize all of your paperwork that is to go inside of the filing cabinet. For example, put all of the bills in the "bills pile." Place all receipts in the "receipts pile." If the paperwork contains names, you can stack the paperwork in alphabetical order. The way you organize your paperwork is completely up to you. Just be sure that it is done in an orderly fashion.

Label your tabs appropriately. Place the labeled tabs onto your filing folders, for example bills, bank statements, orders and receipts. Place the labeled folders inside of the dresser drawers.

Place the organized paperwork inside of their respective labeled folders that are in the dresser drawers.
