How to Choose the Right Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair for you

Are you in the market for a new ergonomic mesh office chair? Whether you need something for your home office or your purchasing an office chair for your place of work, your needs are going to be different. If you like the modern style of an ergonomic mesh office chair and the comfort of having a breathable back, but you're not sure which mesh office chair is for you, check out the following tips.

Instructions

The first thing you want to consider when looking for ergonomic mesh office chairs are the main chair features. Almost every office chair these days are pneumatically adjustable; however there are some chairs that don't provide this feature (as I'm sure there are some instances that adjusting the chair isn't necessary). Consider if you want things like tilt control, tilt lock, arm rests. When I bought my chair I knew that I couldn't stand armrests (I'm constantly fidgeting with them).

Next thing to consider is the use of the office chair. If you're sitting in the chair all day you're going to want the comfort of having an airy and breathable back of the mesh material. You'll also want to have the comfort that ergonomic office chairs offer (vs. say an economy chair). Meanwhile, if you need a home office chair that you'll use maybe 2-3 hours a week, you may be willing to settle for a stiffer, lower priced mesh office chair.

Another use related thing to consider is whether this is your main chair or a guest chair. Most guest chairs are used infrequently and won't have casters. These chairs are sometimes preferred for conference chairs as not a lot of mobility is required. Meanwhile if you have a large desk area that you need to bounce back and forth, quality casters are going to be important.

This may be a little lower on the list, but assembly is important if you have to do it yourself. Some chairs come preassembled or 90% finished. This will be important if you're not terribly mechanically inclined, or if you're busy and can't afford to take the half hour or hour to assemble the chair. Keep in mind that a lot of the cheaper models have poor instructions (only pictures, poor English, etc.)

Finally you'll want to consider price. If this chair is meant to provide a suitable mesh office chair for a family room or home office then you might not mind a lower quality (and therefore lower priced chair). If you are going to be using the chair a lot, trust me, it's worth it to spend the money once. The way I look at it is that it's something you're going to use every day so make it worth sitting in everyday.
