How to Adjust a Hon Mirus Office Chair

HON is a manufacturer of office products such as chairs, tables, desks and workstations. They commissioned designer Wolfgang Deisig, a world-renowned industrial designer in Berlin, Germany, to create the Mirus chair for their product line. It includes a patented arm height and width adjustment, lumbar adjustment and synchro motion tilting (that tilts the back with the seat, mimicking the natural motion of your body), in addition to the standard swivel and height adjustments for office chairs.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the width on the arms using the knobs on the bottom of the seat or lift up from the front section of the arm rests to move them incrementally 1/2 inch at a time. To adjust the height, press the buttons on the outside of the arms and lift or lower the arms to the desired height.

    • 2

Move the height of the lumbar support, pressing the two levers on the chair back and lifting up. The lumbar support will ratchet up one setting at at time. If you need to lower the lumbar support, raise it to the top setting, then slide it down to the desired height.

    • 3

Adjust the tilt of the chair, pulling out on the height adjustment lever under the seat 1/4 inch. The chair will freely tilt through its range of motion. When it is at the tilt you desire, press the lever in 1/4 inch to lock it in place. If you want to adjust the tension of the tilting action, twist the knob under the seat in a clockwise direction for more tension and counterclockwise for less tension. You should never need to turn the knob more than four times around in either direction.
