DIY Computer Cart

When a computer needs to be setup in your home and space is at a premium, you can build a computer cart yourself. The cart needs to be small and maneuverable. This allows you to move it to any room or area where the computer will be used. To do this you will require the dimensions for the cart and the materials needed for the construction.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure a 3/4-inch piece of plywood to 17 inches by 30 inches with the tape measure. Make a cut mark with the pencil and cut the plywood to this measurement using the table saw. Repeat this step on a second piece of plywood.

    • 2

Measure a third piece of 3/4-inch plywood to 17 inches by 22 ½ inches. Make a cut mark with the pencil and then cut the plywood to this measurement. Repeat this step on a fourth piece of plywood.

    • 3

Place the four pieces of plywood together in the shape of a rectangle. The 17-inch by 30-inch plywood pieces will be the sides. Drill pilot holes 3 inches apart on each side.

    • 4

Apply wood glue to the edges of the 17-inch by 22 ½-inch pieces of plywood. Secure the pieces using screws with the power drill.

    • 5

Measure and cut two strips of plywood to 4 inches by 22 inches to use as stabilizers. Apply wood glue to three sides of the plywood. Set the strips of plywood on the edges of the 22 ½-inch sections. Secure the plywood with finish nails using the nail gun.

    • 6

Dill a 2 ½ inch hole near the center of the top section using a hole saw attachment with the power drill.

    • 7

Turn the cart upside down and attach casters to the bottom using screws with the power drill. Place the casters 1 to 2 inches from each corner.
