How to Brace a Homemade Desk

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the location on the top or front piece of wood where you'll attach it to another piece. Mark every 6 to 8 inches where the two pieces of wood will overlap.

    • 2

Drill pilot holes through the areas you marked.

    • 3

Put wood glue on the edges of the desk that you'll be attaching first.

    • 4

Push the wood pieces together and hold securely for a minute or two to allow the wood glue to set up slightly.

    • 5

Wrap a band clamp around the two pieces of wood to brace them. Tighten the clamp by pulling one end through the metal piece. Release to lock the metal piece and the clamp in place.

    • 6

Install wood screws through the pilot holes and into the bottom or back piece of wood. Once you install all of the wood screws, the desk will be secure and you can remove the brace.
