Instructions

    • 1

Snip a segment of fabric measuring 6 feet tall by 6 feet long. Spread it out in front of you horizontally with the right side of the fabric facing downward.

    • 2

Lay a 7-foot-long bamboo pole over the far left edge of the sheet of fabric. Place another pole 1 foot to the right of the pole. Repeat this with the rest of the bamboo poles, making sure they are separated by 1 foot each. Arrange the poles evenly on the sheet of fabric so that the ends overlap evenly as well.

    • 3

Squeeze a line of fabric glue down each side of each bamboo pole on the fabric on which they're lying.

    • 4

Cut a second sheet of fabric matching the first. Turn it so that the right side is facing upward and then press it evenly over the first sheet, encasing the bamboo poles. Use your fingers to press the fabric together along the line of glue to firmly adhere it together. Let it dry for 30 minutes.

    • 5

Stand the fabric shoji screen upright. Bend it into an accordion shape, using the bamboo poles as stabilizers. When bent into an accordion or zig-zag shape, the shoji screen will stand upright in your home.
