How to Release Table Extension Locks

Most large dining tables have extensions or leaves that may be extended to accomodate more diners. Each type of table extension lock requires a different technique, so unlocking them can sometimes be confusing. Hosting large meals is hard enough without having to figure out how your table extension locks work at the same time. With some assistance and the right technique, you can unlock a variety of table extension locks in a few steps.

      Locate the extension locks under the table.

      Position two people on either side of the table extension to lift it as the extension locks are unlocked.

      Position yourself under the table so that you have access to the table extension locks.

      Unlock sliding metal supports by gripping the curved handle and pushing out from under the extension into the support housing. Unlock click catch extension locks by pulling the extension from the table until the click catch releases. Unlock table keeper locks by sliding the lock out of the housing on the table and the extension at the same time. Unlock twisting extension locks by twisting the lock until it is parallel with the edge of the table and the extension is released. Unlock Align-N-Lock extension locks by twisting the lock handle from a parallel position with the edge of the extension to a perpendicular position.

      Remove the table extension by having the two people holding the extension lift it away from the table.
