Stand a piece of 28-by-28-inch 3/4-inch plywood upright, and abut two pieces of 26 1/2-by-28-inch plywood on one face of the 28-by-28-inch plank, flush with the ends to make 90-degree corners. From a top-down view, this will look like a square “U” shape.
Glue the 26 1/2-by-28 inch planks in place and let dry. This forms the legs and front of the desk, with the open part of the “U” where you sit at the desk.
Position two corner brackets on the inside of each corner joint, one flush with the top of the plywood, the other flush with the bottom. Secure the corner brackets in place with 1/2-inch screws driven through the screw holes.
Place another 28-by-28-inch piece of plywood on top of the legs for the desktop and glue it down. The edges of the desktop should be flush all around with the top of the legs and front plywood pieces.
Turn the desk over so that the desktop is on the ground and the joint between the desktop and the legs and front plywood piece is exposed.
Position a corner bracket in the center of each leg and the front plywood piece, so that half the bracket is on the top of these pieces, and the other half on the underside of the desk top. Secure in place with 1/2-inch screws through the screw holes of the bracket.
Turn the desk back upright, then paint as desired. The desk is roughly cubic.
