How to Paint a Desk With a Rock Star Theme

Sand the desk, if necessary, to prepare for painting. Remove all old hardware and discard. Clean the desk with warm soapy water. Let it dry thoroughly before painting.

Paint the desk in a solid color and let dry. The best color choice for a rock star theme is black, but you could also use silver, red or fuchsia.

Affix stencils to desired areas of the desk and spray paint rock star motifs onto the stencil. If you painted the desk black, silver or red are ideal accent color choices. Ideas for stencils include stars, guitars, drum kits, silhouettes of rock stars with microphones or guitars and musical notes. Or, adhere vinyl decals in strategic places on the desk. Areas like the front of the drawers are ideal locations for stenciling and decals.

Affix the hardware in place using a drill. Look for rock star themed pulls and knobs such as guitars, musical notes and stars in highly polished silver or nickel finishes.

Finish the top of the desk with decoupage glue. Decoupage layers of tin foil to create a flashy top to the rock star themed desk. Or, create a desktop collage with magazine cutouts and printouts of different rock stars. Cover with decoupage glue and let set.

Accessorize the desk with framed photos of your favorite rock stars. Look for metallic frames to match the hardware.
