Measure the walls where you want to place the desk. Draw a rough outline of the room and include these measurements. Work up a layout of the desk. Consider how many people may use the desk at the same time, as well as how many storage options you need. Each desk needs a 30-inch opening for leg access. Plan leg openings that are far enough apart so that chairs won't constantly bang into each other.
Place the filing cabinets in the room. Keeping them 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the wall gives space for electrical cords and outlets. Notice that in the corner, you have an empty space. A desktop supported by table legs covers this spot.
Lay the desktops over the filing cabinets. Line up the desktop edges and the fining cabinets, making them flush.
Place the desktop that covers the empty corner where the desks meet good side down on a work surface. Install the two leg adapters in each corner at the end of the top that does not rest on a filing cabinet. Screw the table legs into the leg adapters. Replace this piece on the filing cabinets in the dead corner.
Attach the desktops to the filing cabinets. Remove the filing cabinets’ top drawers. Use two wood screws in each cabinet’s front and the back. Repeat this for every filing cabinet. Replace the drawers when finished.
