If you are building a desk for a home office, child's playroom or workshop, you need to install brackets beneath the desk to secure the desk top to the legs. Metal brackets are commonly used for securing a desk top; however, you can build your own brackets out of wood. This can allow you to make use of scrap lumber, which might reduce the cost of building the desk. Building wood brackets is a straightforward task that requires relatively few tools.
