How to Assemble an Executive Desk

An executive desk is essential to any home office, with its large work area and storage space for files and supplies, and assembling an executive desk may seem like a tough job. However, you can easily put an executive desk together in an hour or two if you plan ahead and know what goes where in advance with an executive desk kit that has everything you need and step by step instructions.

Instructions

      Gather all of the tools necessary to complete the job, along with the kit's instructions. Double check that you have all of the pieces and parts that are listed in the instructions, and read the instructions thoroughly, to ensure that you understand every step before you begin.

      Attach the back of the desk to the sides, using the wooden dowel rods and locking cams that came with the kit. Push the cams into their corresponding holes and use a screwdriver to turn the cams until they lock.

      Fasten the drawer pieces together. Squeeze wood glue into the tongue and groove and hold the pieces together until they set. Use a clamp, if necessary.

      Install the file cabinet drawer pedestal. Push the cam locks into the corresponding holes, use the screwdriver to turn and lock them to attach the cabinet to the underside of the desk at one end. Place the hanging file rack in the bottom drawer.

      Affix the knobs to the desk drawers by screwing them tightly in place. Screw the hinges to the door and then line them up with the corresponding holes on the cabinet with a screw driver.
