Instructions

    • 1

Make the desk smaller by measuring and scoring a line where you want to cut. Then use a circular saw to actually cut the door.

    • 2

Pull out an inch of the insulation in the door at the cut.

    • 3

Fill the cut with a 1 inch by 1 inch strip of wood. Glue and tap into place.

    • 4

Check the hollow core door for any rough spots that might need sanded smooth. The door's surface is made of two thin wooden faces and filled with light weight insulation. Be careful when sanding the surface that the thin wood does not splinter or break.

    • 5

Stain and finish the wood surface with two coats of polyurethane for smooth glossy desk finish.

    • 6

Place the two 2 drawer filing cabinets or 2 matching night stands three feet apart.

    • 7

Lay a sheet of non skid rug liner on top of the cabinets and lay the door in place. No messy glue or screws are needed.
