Place the four metal slides with plastic wheels on a flat surface so you can orient each part to its proper location on the Sauder desk. The two longer slides attach to the inside of the desk on each side of the footwell into pre-drilled holes. One of the slides is labeled "L" for the left side and the other is embossed with the letter "R" for the right side. The two shorter slides are also labeled for the left and right. These attach to the slide-out tray.
Fasten the two longer metal slides to the inside of your Sauder desk using the supplied screws. Place the slide labeled "L" on the left side with the arrow stamped on the metal facing upward. Align the holes in the slide with the two pre-drilled holes in the inside left panel of your desk. Fasten a wood screw through each hole in the slide to the wood panel of the desk. Repeat for the right side of the inside desk panel using the slide labeled "R" and two screws.
Turn the slide-out tray so the finished surface and finished front edge face toward you. The bottom and back edge of the tray are unfinished.
Attach the short slide labeled "L" to the left edge of the slide-out tray using two wood screws supplied with the furniture, matching the holes in the slide to the pre-drilled holes on the edge of the tray. The slide must be positioned with the arrow stamped on the metal pointing toward the back of the tray. Fasten the slide labeled "R" to the right side of the tray in the same manner, with the arrow pointing toward the back.
Hold the slide-out tray by the sides with both hands and turn the back edge downward at a slight angle.
Lower the wheels on the left and right slides now attached to the tray into the left and right grooves on the two slides attached to the underside of your desk. This engages the wheels on the tray with the tracks on the two desk slides.
Lower the front edge of your slide-out tray so it is parallel with the surface of the desk. When you hear a click, push the slide-out tray straight back to glide the tray into the storage position below the desk. Pull the edge of the tray to draw it out from under the desk. You can now place a keyboard on the tray and run the keyboard cable toward the back of the desk for connecting to a computer, or just set a wireless keyboard directly on the tray and slide it out of the way until needed.
