Instructions

    • 1

Measure the couch lengthwise, including the sides. Add 16 inches to the measurement. Measure the width, laying the measuring tape against the shape of the couch and down the back. Add 14 inches to the measurement.

    • 2

Cut a piece of fabric to the size of your measurement with scissors. It's best to measure the couch before you buy the fabric to make sure you get enough fabric.

    • 3

Cover the couch with the fabric. Fit the fabric to the couch by sliding a wooden spoon between the ends of the cushions and the sides of the couch, then along the back of the seat. While the fabric is on the couch, fold and pin each edge to your desired length.

    • 4

Lay towels on the floor with enough length to spread the long side of the fabric over them. Measure and cut a piece of hem tape the same length as one of the long sides. Slide the hemming tape under the fold.

    • 5

Heat the iron on a low setting, or as directed by the hem tape manufacturer. Iron the folded edge of the fabric with the hem tape inside. Be sure the floor under the couch cover is protected by towels when you iron to prevent floor damage. The folded fabric will fuse together, creating a hem. Trim off any excess fabric, if necessary.

    • 6

Iron measured and cut hem tape under the folds of the other three sides of the couch cover.

    • 7

Place the hemmed couch cover on the couch. Push the fabric along the sides of the cushions of the couch with a wooden spoon.
