How to Turn a Sectional Into One Couch

While sectional sofas make rearranging your room a snap, the style is not suitable for all homes. The couch typically consists of two to four pieces with some designs using six or more separate pieces. Every time you sit down quickly or move, you risk the pieces separating and sliding around the room. Sectional sofa connectors or flat brackets let you attach the different pieces and make the sectional into one couch.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange the sectional sofa in the design that you want. Once you connect the pieces, rearranging the pieces takes some time.

    • 2

Turn each upside down so that you can see the bottom of each sectional piece. Set aside the screws from the sectional sofa connectors and take apart each piece. The connectors consist of two pieces: a locking mechanism and a latch for locking the pieces together.

    • 3

Set two of the locking mechanism pieces on one of the sofa pieces, so that the ends sit flush with the edge of the couch. The pieces screw into the wood frame on the couch. The pieces have a U-shaped metal bracket that slides over a knob on the other side of the connector.

Place the opposite piece of the connector on the next sectional piece. Move the connector pieces close to the edge of the sofa, making sure that the pieces line up and work together.

    • 5

Screw four screws into each of the connector pieces. Push the U-shaped piece over the knob, locking the pieces together. Repeat on each of the other sectional pieces, locking the couch together. Turn the couch back over so that the legs sit flat on the floor.
