How to Clean Spots on Microfiber Suede

Microfiber suede gives furniture the look of real suede without the price tag. Made from 100 percent polyester fibers that are thinner than a strand of human hair, microfiber suede is a highly stain-resistant synthetic. These stain-resistant qualities make microfiber suede easier to clean than natural suede. If you have microfiber suede furniture, it will require little more than a light, weekly vacuuming. For those unexpected spots left behind by spills, mild dish soap usually does the trick.

Instructions

    • 1

Always check the cleaning tag on your microfiber suede furniture prior to using any cleaning method. Some manufacturers have strict policies when it comes to warranties.

    • 2

Vacuum microfiber suede weekly. A weekly vacuuming added to your weekly cleaning routine will help reduce residue buildup and dirt spots. Use your vacuum's brush or upholstery tool to remove surface dust and dirt.

    • 3

Blot up spills with a soft towel. If a spot remains, dampen a sponge with cool water and rub it over the area. Work in circular motions, until the spot dissolves. Allow the microfiber suede to air dry.

    • 4

Squeeze a few drops of dish soap onto a damp sponge for tougher stains. Rub the sponge over the spot, working in circular motions. Rinse the sponge with cool water until it runs clear; give the area a final dab and air dry.

To remove grease spots left behind on microfiber suede, dampen a soft cloth with vinegar. Rub the cloth over the grease spot, rinse the cloth with cool water, and dab it over the surface. Allow the spot to air dry.
