How to Repair a Hole in a Leather Couch

All you need are a few simple supplies that you can buy individually or that already come in a leather repair kit.

Sharp scissors
Leather filler
Hair dryer
Leather glue
Sub-patch
Leather protector

Instructions

  Cut off the jagged edges of the hole with sharp scissors and remove extra stuffing sticking out of the hole.

  Apply a layer of leather filler inside the hole. The filler is a mix of liquid leather compound and adhesive. Dry the filler with a hair dryer, preferably on low, to speed up the drying time. Add another layer of leather filler without drying it. Stickiness will help the sub-patch bond to it quickly.

  Apply a small amount of glue around the perimeter of the torn area.

  Place the sub-patch over the hole, pressing firmly around the edges to help the bonding process. Allow the glue to dry completely for about an hour.

  Dip the corner of the cloth in the leather protector and gently swipe it over the sub-patch. Let it dry for an hour.

  Soak a small area of a cloth with leather color. Wipe it in one motion across the patch onto the rest of the leather so that it blends easily.
