Sleeper Loveseat Styles

For people in very small apartments or those decorating an office, a sleeper loveseat can be the ideal piece of furniture to finish a room. These small couches can hold two people comfortably by day for reading or watching television, while offering a cozy sleeping area for one or two at night. There are many styles of sleeper loveseats; the kind you choose depends on your décor and sleeping needs.
  1. Traditional Pull-out

    • Traditional sleeper loveseats are similar to sleeper sofas, only smaller. Remove the loveseat cushions from the seating area to expose the hidden bed. Reach into the back of the hidden area to grasp a pull strap. Pull the strap to pull out the bed mattress and frame. The bed will unfold and stand up on metal legs. Traditional pull-out sleepers are very sturdy and can last for years, but some less expensive brands have a thinner mattress that allows you to feel a bar across the middle of your back while you are laying down.

    Futon

    • Futon sleeper loveseats are based on a wooden or metal frame with a large mattress that folds in the middle, creating a seat and back rest while the frame is in the upright position. Flip a simple lever or unlock a switch, and the frame will fold down, allowing the mattress to open into a flat position. Futons have a more casual look, making them unacceptable in formal rooms, but they are very easy to operate and often have a thick and comfortable mattress.

    Foam Slab

    • Foam slab sleeper furniture is a relatively new design. Rectangles of soft foam material is covered with upholstery fabric and sewn together into a linked series of blocks. When folded and stacked, the blocks create a comfortable loveseat. The blocks make a soft and comfortable bed when pulled out and laid on the floor. These loveseats are very light and inexpensive, but they may not be as durable for heavy use.
