# How Do You Open a Metal Futon?
One of the benefits of owning a futon is the ease in which it opens to transform from a couch to a bed. Although opening a metal futon typically varies depending on the brand and make of your futon, the process is generally a simple one. Because of this, opening your futon may take a moment of trial and error before you get the hang of it. Opening your metal futon shouldn't take more than a few seconds.

Stand in front of the futon so you're facing the seat.

Hold the seat of the futon using both hands.

Lift the seat upward and pull the seat toward you to open the futon into a bed.

Adjust the futon mattress as necessary.
Push-to-Lock Futon

Push the arms of the futon toward the center and pull them back so they are laying flat--parallel to the seat.

Stand behind the futon facing toward the seat.

Push the back of the futon forward toward the seat.

Pull the back of the futon toward you and carefully set it so it's level with the seat.
